ISTA members won prestigious awards in China International Industry Fair 2009
The China International Industry Fair (CIIF) 2009 was successfully held in Shanghai on 3-7 November. Several ISTA members from the Chinese Mainland participated in the Fair. ISTA Secretariat coordinated the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Purdue University, and member universities of Australian Technology Network to jointly participate and showcase their latest innovative technologies. 14^th Annual General Meeting cum Higher Education Innovation and Development Forum
Hosted by the Wuhan University of Technology, the 14^th Annual General Meeting cum Higher Education Innovation and Development Forum were held in Wuhan on 30 Oct. Upcoming major activities and the future directions of ISTA were being discussed in the AGM. In the Higher Education Innovation and Development Forum, various speakers delivered presentations and shared their experience and success stories in university-industrial technology transfer strategies and multi-institutional research collaborations. Representatives from the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute, and Hong Kong Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems R&D Centre were invited to introduce the Innovation and Technology Fund scheme. ISTA member universities were encouraged to tap on this funding and collaborate with the universities, R&D centres and enterprises in Hong Kong for win-win development of innovative technologies.  more...

ISTA member universities swept 9 awards in the 37^th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products, Geneva, Switzerland
Four ISTA member universities jointly participated in the 37^th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products, Geneva, Switzerland on 1-5 April 2009. All nine exhibited inventions were highly praised by the judging panels and were awarded prestigious prizes.  more...

Higher Education Leadership Development Programme 2009
Hosted by Management and Executive Development Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Higher Education Leadership Development Programme 2009 was held in Hong Kong on 12-16 March 2009. The Programme provided an exchange platform for over 30 leaders and senior executives from member institutes to appreciate the current trends, practices and challenges of the higher education sector from international experts. Through seminars and small group learning exercises, participants are challenged to apply innovative thinking to lead their institutions to even higher grounds.  more...

Establishment of ATN-ISTA NanoNetwork
At the 2009 ATN Conference, the Chairperson of ISTA and ATN co-signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the ATN-ISTA NanoNetwork. Being a research network involving researchers from member universities of ATN and ISTA, it aims to enhance research outcomes through the development of joint capabilities in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The NanoNetwork will enable the collaboration of member universities in academic exchange, research, knowledge dissemination and knowledge transfer for commercialization. The Secretariats of ISTA and ATN will assist the application of funds, such as the "Australia-China Special Fund for Science & Technology Cooperation" to support the NanoNetwork activities.
