PolyU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Student Challenge (Co-organized by ISTA)

The Global Student Challenge (GSC) organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and co-organized by ISTA, came to a climax on 10 June at its Final held on the PolyU campus, with six finalist teams each competing for the coveted award in the University Division and the Secondary School Division. An ISTA member institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University, was awarded the Commendation Award & Theme Award - Environment & Sustainability.

The major initiative of the Challenge was to embrace internationalization, innovation and entrepreneurship. It attracted more than 180 teams from all over the world, of which 15 teams came from ISTA member institutes.

Notable scholars, professionals and entrepreneurs, 11 of which from the ISTA member institutes, were invited to be the judging panel of the Challenge. Participating students took this precious opportunity to unleash their potential in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as to obtain valuable advice and experience from the professional judging panel.  more...

ISTA member universities won 13 awards in the 38th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva

The 38th International Exhibition of Inventions was held in Geneva on 21-25 April 2010. Three ISTA member universities jointly participated in the exhibition with thirteen inventions and all of them were awarded prestigious prizes.  more...

Updates of the ISTA-ATN Nanonetwork

Since the establishment of the ISTA-ATN Nanonetwork, researchers from both networks continue their exchanges and dialogues for the exploration of collaboration opportunities. Several collaboration projects have thus been formed, with some of them being supported by research grants from the Australian government.

In Feb 2010, Prof. Ning Gu, Dean of the School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering of Southeast University, attended the ATN Conference and the Nanonetwork Workshop on behalf of ISTA. Research potentials of medical applications of magnetic nanoparticles were discussed. Besides, the workshop led to more detailed planning for a Graduate student 'Autumn School', as well as a bilateral forum on nanomedicine, to be held in 2010 in Suzhou, China.

In terms of joint student supervision, several renowned nanotechnology researchers from ISTA member institutes were appointed as adjunct professors to ATN member universities. Together with Australian researchers, they will jointly supervise research students for the mutual enhancement of research capabilities of both networks.  more...

ISTA members won prestigious awards in China International Industry Fair 2009

The China International Industry Fair (CIIF) 2009 was successfully held in Shanghai on 3-7 November. Several ISTA members from the Chinese Mainland participated in the Fair. ISTA Secretariat coordinated the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Purdue University, and member universities of Australian Technology Network to jointly participate and showcase their latest innovative technologies.
