The China International Industry Fair (CIIF) 2009 was successfully held in Shanghai on 3-7 November. The Ministry of Education invited ISTA to coordinate member universities outside Chinese mainland to participate in CIIF. To further encourage international exchange of technological innovation, the Secretariat coordinated the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Purdue University and member universities of Australian Technology Network to participate in CIIF and showcase their latest innovative technologies. The Fair had showed more than 5,000 innovations of 1,860 exhibitors. For their debut appearance at CIIF, ISTA was awarded the CIIF Special Award. PolyU won the coveted Gold Prize for its "Mega-structure Diagnostic and Prognostic System". It was the only gold prize awarded to a higher education institute in this year. Another PolyU technology "Micro-injection Molding Machine" also won the Innovation Prize. Other ISTA member universities participating in the same Fair were also awarded prizes and honours listed below.
