The 12th Annual General Meeting was held in the Hong
Kong Polytechnic University on 9 Nov 2007. Over 80 delegates
from the ISTA member institutes, ATN member institutes,
Wuxi Government and Wuxi enterprises attended the meeting.
In the AGM, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and
Southeast University were respectively elected as the
Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the 5th Executive
Committee. In addition, the AGM accepted two renowned
education leaders as individual members of the Alliance;
they are Prof. Lie-yun Ding and Prof. Cai-rong Zou,
former Vice Presidents of Huazhong University of Science
and Technology and Southeast University respectively.
Adjunct to the AGM was an Academic-Industrial-Government
Collaboration Seminar "Technology Collaboration for
Regional Innovation and Development". Mr Xue-ming Tan,
Vice Mayor of Wuxi Municipal People's Government, and
Mr Jian-liang Wu, Director of Science and Technology
Bureau of Wuxi Municipal People's Government, and representative
from Southeast University presented their strategies,
efforts and achievements for regional innovation and
development.
During their stay in Hong Kong, the delegates also
visited the Hong Kong Science Park and exchanged views
with its CEO, Mr Shing-see Lee, GBS, OBE, JP, on policies
and best practices of technology park establishments
for regional development.
